As from 1st October 2010 the club is subject to the above act of parliament. The act is intended to control discrimination of the following characteristics.

Age
Disability
Gender re-assignment
Marriage & civil partnership
Race
Religion or belief
Sex
Sexual orientation

All aspects except age are now monitored. The club conforms in all ways with the characteristics other than age. Age characteristics will be included in the act as from October 2012 and the following advice is given by E.G.U. and E.W.G.U.

In order to offer a reduced subscription to senior members, the club must be able to justify the practise on the grounds that the needs of people within that age group (not just the needs of members within that age group) are such that a discount is a reasonable and proportionate means of meeting their needs , which are distinct from other age groups.

As the age profile of many clubs shows a high proportion of senior members, it may be difficult for the majority of clubs to justify such action. The governments consultation process on this characteristic has been introduced in the area of age related discrimination as the discussions are so complex.

At the present time we have no worries on the act, but may do so as from October 1st 2012. It is in the best interests of the club if consideration as to our actions and outcomes is taken by March 2011 at the latest on the subject of senior discounts.

It is at the present time not known what difference the act means to C.L.L. with regard to senior Ultimate/season cards.
