The course was voted one of Britain’s best value municipal courses by the BBC Golf Magazine, Stony Holme provides a challenging but fair test to the many golfers who play the course. Stony Holme Golf Course is an award winning 18 hole, par 69, pay as you play golf course of the highest order, designed by Frank Pennink in 1974.  It is located 5 minutes from Carlisle City centre and is easy to find from junction 43 off the M6. The course is bordered by 2 rivers on 3 sides, which cause some tricky shots over and around water.  The front 9 holes feature open, but undulating fairways, with the tree lined back 9 holes becoming very much narrower and trickier. With something to challenge every level of ability, it is also a good course to test your understanding and knowledge of the game and with magnificent views of the Lakeland Fells and Northern Pennines, which provide a genuinely stunning backdrop to the course.The course is superb value for money and apart from a great golfing experience is renowned for its fantastic catering and hospitality and its well stocked pro shop.

The clubhouse has full bar facilities, with an excellent selection of wines and beers. Snacks, tea and coffee are also available or you can relax in the friendly, family atmosphere of the Riverside Restaurant, commanding extensive views over the golf course, whilst enjoying a meal from the wide range of tasty, great value home-cooked dishes. Stephen has a wealth of teaching experience and tuition is available either on a one-to-one basis or as part of his very popular group lessons

Tuition can take place either on the course's own practice ground, actually on course or at the nearby Swifts Par 3 Course and Driving Range.
